The Utah Wild headed to the Pinnacle Athletic Complex in Colorado to face off with the Colorado Alpenglow for the first time this season. While the Wild were dealt another loss at the hands of the Alpenglow, they were still able to make some key plays to stay on top of their opponent.
The Alpenglow got the first pull of the match, scoring quickly on an early break chance to secure the first point of the game. A long second point followed with some close calls and impressive defensive moves from Jaycee Jones. Ultimately some back-and-forth between Serena Hochmuth and Eva Bell put Utah on the board with their first point of the match.
The Wild tallied two more points in the first quarter, the third and final point finishing with a throw from Liz Bunderson to Abbie Davis.
The Wild earned two more points in the second while the Alpenglow started to develop a more serious lead. By the end of the second quarter the score was 13-5.
As the sun began to set in the second half, the wind picked up fiercely, creating additional challenges for both teams. The Wild started the third quarter with a fast grab from Anna McClurkan to earn an early second half goal. Utah scored twice more in the third which included a goal from Saya Noya.
The final point for the Wild was in the fourth and ended in a throw from Bell to Taylor Melner, who caught the disc in the corner to secure a goal. The final score was 22-10 in favor of Colorado.
The Wild take on the Alpenglow again on May 30 at Providence Hall in Herriman as part of the Salt Lake Shred and Utah Wild double header. Learn more about the event and get your tickets here.
